I have learned that this is a very opinionated topic. Much like the “Photo on your Business Card,” topic, People feel very strongly one way or another.
I will start off by saying that I post my prices on my site, and more often than not, people call or email me ready to book a wedding. They don’t have any questions. They saw my work and my prices and have made up their mind. I will also mention that I never met with a bride or groom only to have them say my prices were too high. So it seems works for me.
At the same time, I totally understand the other argument. Posting your price puts the focus on price, which can override the focus on quality. We all know that leads down a dark and scary road leading nowhere. Also, browsing a few very successful photographers, most of them either do not post their prices, or only post a starting point. That definitely has some value to me.
So what do you think? Should I take my prices off my site, or should I go with the old motto, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.”?
